Why affirmations?

Being an entrepreneur affects so much more of your identity than just what you do. Being an entrepreneur is a lifestyle, a way of thinking, a set of beliefs, a collection of dreams.

As such, when you begin to struggle in your entrepreneurial journey, the problem can very often be traced back to your own mindset.

And changing an entire mindset, an entire way of thinking and processing, isn’t always an easy task.

One of the easiest ways to start affecting your mindset is with positive affirmations. These are essentially positively-worded statements that reinforce the ideals and successes you want to bring into your life. They’re not always your current truth, but they’re the truth that you’re working towards.

Think of it like a reminder of what you want to achieve!

So, with affirmations, you want to leave these reminders everywhere. Write them, read them, say them out loud. Because the more you remind yourself of these truths, the more likely they’re going to become true, right? The more repetitive you get with these affirmations, the better you’ll be able to literally reprogram your brain to believe them.

And how can you go wrong with an empowered and confident mind?

I’ll admit, I’m not the most seasoned affirmation practitioner you would come across. So if you’re new to this concept, hear me when I say that I understand your hesitation. It sounds kind of weird, a little wishy-washy, a little too “woo” for you.

So here’s a fancy article that uses science to tell you while this works; then you can come back here once they’ve change your mind!

* Side note: I’m mostly sure this list has 56…there are a few duplicates, but I’m like 97% sure there are 56 unique affirmations in this post. Don’t hold me to it.

You’re struggling to ask people to pay you for your products and services. You don’t know where to draw the line between free and paid content, and you suspect you’ve given away too much. You’re probably undercharging, which is costing you time and money, which only adds to the stress of earning revenue.

You need to come to terms with the fact that money is not only okay, but it is necessary. By not accepting what you’re worth, you’re punishing yourself and robbing your future of success.

You deserve to put food on the table. You deserve to know there is an emergency fund ready for a crisis. You deserve to be able to go on a vacation and experience a life worth living. And, news flash, those things need money.

In order to get money, you have to work for it. So if you’re working, get paid for it.

Every time you swipe your card or click “Purchase,” your breath catches. “Can I justify this cost? What if I didn’t actually have enough? Was that a mistake?”

Your middle name is Buyer’s Remorse and it just makes you miserable.

This is a problem that really has to be dealt with through healthy financial management. I can tell you that a purchase was justified all day, but if the money wasn’t actually there for it, I’d be wrong.

However, some of you still feel guilty even after you’ve verified that it’s safe to make a purchase. You’re the selfless people. You feel bad for spending the money on something that probably could have been used for something “more meaningful.”

Your job is to start accepting the fact that it’s okay to spend money, especially if it’s on something you WANT. In fact, it’s just as important to know how to spend money as it is to save it! What’s the point of having it if it’s not going to be used? Money is inherently useless! The whole point of it is to trade it for something else of value!

If you don’t spend it, you won’t see how your money can serve you. And that will build all sorts of negative feelings and resentment, which poisons your mindset around earning money, building wealth, and even giving it to those in need.

Affirmations for Mastering Money

  • I am capable of managing large sums of money.

  • I am responsible with money and manage it wisely.

  • Money well-spent is a source of good and positive things.

  • I spend fearlessly because I know I've managed it well.

  • I am thankful for the comfort and joy that money can bring to me when I manage it well.

  • I surrender all of my fears and inhibitions about money and embrace all that it can do for my life.

  • I will honor my dreams and remind myself that I deserve success and happiness.

  • I will be aware and attentive to my wealth so that it can serve me and those around me.

  • I make wise financial decisions and trust in my discipline and discernment.

  • The money that I have invested will be returned to me ten-fold.

So maybe you struggle with the concept of having too much money in general. Again, you’re probably a very selfless person who is afraid that holding too much money for yourself is a waste. Maybe that money could go to a charity, or be used to assist a family who needs it more than you do.

You’re also probably the person who is underpaying (or not paying) yourself as the owner of your business. You only take what you need, and your pay is the first thing you cut when the margins get a little too tight.

But you have to take care of yourself. If you don’t, you’re undermining the very foundation of everything you’ve built: YOU.

Identify your definition of success. So, maybe you don’t need to be a millionaire. Maybe all you need is to pay your bills and set aside a reasonable savings to you can send your child to college. Or your goal is to take just one luxury vacation to your dream destination with your best friend, and you just want to save up enough for that. Or, maybe you DO want to be a millionaire! You get to decide.

You’re putting in the work to earn the money to meet your dreams, and you have a right to that. But you certainly can build your dreams of generosity into your financial plan. I’ve heard stories of seniors with no heirs saving up a college fund to pay for someone else’s child to get through school. You can be that person, if you wanted. And you have a right to decide that.
